Extending the lifespan of your garments means to save the environment. There are many techniques you can do to make the lifespan of your damaged or ripped garments longer, not just to reduce waste but also to save money such as up-cycling, hand washing, repairing and many more. Below are easy steps of repairing technique you simply follow and save your garments at home.
Step 1. Prepare your DIY tools such as tapestry needle, same/similar colored yarns, thread, scissors.
Step 2. Match your yarns to find the most similar color ones to your fabric.
Step 3. After you found the matching yarn, you may start by inserting the yarn to your tapestry needle.
Step 4. To weave, you may start with warp. After you have done warp over the hole/torn part, you can continue to do weft. Please be aware that in weaving, the weft has to go over then under the warp. If you start the first row of weft by going over the warp, the following row must go under the warp. Then repeating the same process by going under and over and so on.
Remember doing this activity during your primary school ?
This mending basically means you have to replicate weaving by adding extra yarns. It is the same thing with what you have done in school.
Weaving is the production of fabric by interlacing two sets of yarns so that they cross each other. In weaving, there are weft and wrap. Lengthwise yarns are called warp; crosswise yarns are called weft.
